The following check outs are required to act as a PIC:

  • Aircraft: to act as PIC under daytime VFR
  • Instrument: to act as PIC under IFR
  • Night: to act as PIC during night time
  • Annual Standardization: to continue to act as PIC each year after initial check out

An aircraft check out requires, at minimum, the following:

  • Meets Aircraft CheckOout Prerequisites (Aircraft Checkout Requirement Form)
  • Pass the SOP and Aircraft Tests
  • Ground discussion and check out flight with an instructor
    • Initial checkout is required for each make and model

The documents below list the training and prerequisite experience to qualify as Pilot In Command as well as additional requirements to leave the local flying area (100 nm) and fly passengers in each aircraft.
